You know how today, we were supposed to wear a purple shirt to show respect for the teenagers that hung themselves? Well if you didn't, apparently a lot of other people did to. Originally, I saw a set on Polyvore to wear purple on the 20th of October, and surprisingly I didn't forget, however a number of other people did. I saw quite a bit of students wearing purple today, which I was pleased with. But some of the comments I heard about it made me sort of angry. Like in Gym today, a girl was talking to me and she slipped out the word 'gay' but used it as 'stupid' Heres how I conversation went: Her: Blah, blah, THAT WAS SO GAY! BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Me (seriously): Why are people wearing purple today? Her: I don't know, some gay rights thing anway- Me (Interrupting her): Not exactly. Her: Well if you knew why'd you ask? Me: Try again. Some other girl whos name I can't pronouce: It was to show respect for the gay teens that hung themselves. Her: Well, what- Me (Interrupting once again): So do you think it's respectful to use the word 'gay' as 'stupid'. It's also disrespectful to your English teacher. And then I walked away.
Honestly it took a lot for me to do that. I barely talk in some classes. And at then end of the day today, there was an announcement to wear pink tomorrow for breast cancer. There was no announcement to wear purple.
This upset me.
Sorry if this didn't make any sense. Thanks for reading. Feedback is appreciated.
I'm Breanna. I hate it when people call me "Breanne" I waste too much time on the computer. I like music and reading a lot. I like making people laugh. I'm a loser.
